PRESS RELEASE
In the year 2000 Congress passed an act that any qualified veteran that passed away their family may request a Military Funeral.  These Ceremomies may consist of just a Flag Folding Ceremony and Taps, or one to also include a Firing Sguad.
Up to this point these ceremonies ave been performed by our local National Guard. They getting over-whelmed because many of our WWII veterans are passing away. It's getting difficult to get to all these funerals because they cover almost all  of West Tennessee. For this reason they have requested the local American Legion Posts to form a Color/Honor Guard Team to fill in when they get over-booked. We have formed an American Legion Honor Guard Team and have already had the great experience of holding sevgeral Military Funerals.  We need more volunteers to join the Honor Guard to ensure that we have enough personnel to cover a military funeral.  The Army has given us nine M1 Rifles and we have purchased a Cermonial Bugle as well as a new Post and American Flag & staffs.
